Dave Dunlap
David Dunlap was in the prime of his life with a wife and young son. He was an attorney for the Kansas Department of Revenue and on the wall of his office was a retirement countdown calendar. He planned to watch his young son grow up and enjoy his retirement years with his wife Jodie.
David was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of 49. The cancer had already metastasized. He was told they could treat the cancer but could not cure it. The next two years David spent in and out of doctor’s offices and hospitals. He underwent radiation, chemotherapy and surgery to remove a tumor near the spinal cord. He then received therapy to learn to walk again.
He continued to work and was truly thankful for each day he had with his family. He was so appreciative of the physicians that helped him and even felt sorry for them because of the job they were faced with every day.
David died two years after his diagnosis. He left behind his wife, Jodie, and a nine year old son, Joey.
